At Kinetic-One wheels we often use advanced performance components and experience tells us that many shops are just not familiar with such equipment.
Sadly we are also often surprised that certain procedures (such as how to avoid damaging ultra-light aero spokes) are not known by some mechanics.
This page really is not intended as a criticism of bike shops - rather it is an 'experience-based' checklist - that we hope will maximise the chances that your bike shop will be able to work successfully on your wheels.

1. Kinetic-One wheels most often use aero spokes. These must be held with an "aero spoke holder" to avoid damage to the spoke caused by twisting of an unheld spoke.
2. We routinely use 5.5mm hex-head self-locking Pillar and Alpina nipples on our builds. These must be worked on from inside the rim. In addition the nipple should first be turned anti-clockwise to break the "lock" before any attempt is made to increase the spoke tension.
3. We can supply detailed spoke tension information for all models in either NM or KgF. We really like to be asked for this information ... rather than not be asked!!
4. As a rule our alloy wheels are tensioned to:
Front radial rim brake wheels: 100KgF
Rear Drive rim brake wheels and Disc side disc-brake wheels; 125-130kgf
Rear Non-Drive: as required to dish wheel
5. As a rule our carbon wheels are tensioned to:
Front radial rim brake wheels: 90-100KgF
Rear Drive rim brake wheels and Disc side disc-brake wheels; 100-110kgf
Rear Non-Drive: as required to dish wheel
6. Since 2014 All our wheels are supplied for the following gearing options
- Shimano 7/8/9/10/11 speed ready. Spacer supplied with wheels for 8/9/10 speed usage.
-Campagnolo 9/10/11/12 speed ready
-SRAM 7/8/9/10/11 speed ready. Spacer supplied with wheels for 8/9/10 speed usage.
7. We can supply bearings, spokes, freehub bodies, rims, nipples etc as required to faciliate a repair to any Kinetic-One wheels you are working on. We do not formally offer trade terms but we can supply at discounted rates to trade on an ad hoc basis.
